Gary Pinkel met with the media on National Signing Day to discuss his incoming freshman class of 2013. According to Pinkel his team, “worked very hard at evaluation and (we) feel very good about the class.” Rivals.com has ranked the class 28th due to acquisition of talent at much needed positions such as quarterback, offensive line, and defensive line.

A few highlights from the 2013 class include the following prospects:

           1. Chase Abbington (TB, Fort Zumwalt South, St. Peter’s, Mo.)

The four-star recruit played multiple positions in high school prefers to be a running back at Missouri. Abbington ran for 989 yards and 12 touchdowns in his senior season, He turned down offers from Nebraska, Michigan, and Arkansas among others.

  2. Josh Augusta (DT, Peoria High School, Peoria, Ill.) 

Augusta fills a major void left by departed defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson. The incoming 6-foot-5-inch lineman had 153 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior in addition to playing tight end and defensive end. Augusta received offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Michigan State.

           3. Trent Hosick (QB, Staley, Kansas City, Mo.)

Hosick is a dual threat quarterback who ran for 18 touchdowns while throwing for 16. Hosick lead Staley High School to a Class 5 Missouri state title as a junior.

The Tigers are allotted 28 scholarships, but chose only to sign 20 players. Missouri missed out on Iowa offensive lineman Jake Campos and Texas defensive end Dimarya Mixon at the last minute.
