After winning both games in last week’s double-header, the Missouri softball team repeated the sweep in Columbia on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012.
In the first game against Mineral Area College, Missouri’s pitching did not allow a hit. Starting pitcher Kelsea Roth threw a no-hitter through the first four innings. Nicole Hudson, who started the game at third base, threw a no-hitter over the final three innings while earning a save.
Missouri’s offense was also very productive. In six innings, the Tigers put up 16 runs. Shortstop Emily Crane, a freshman from Troy, Mo., went 5-5 with four RBIs. Catcher Rachael Hay tied Crane for the game-high in RBIs with four of her own.
The second game was much closer for the Tigers. However, they still pulled out the win over Central Methodist, 7-5. Lindsey Muller earned the win as the Tiger’s starting pitcher. Hudson received her second save when she took over for Muller in the fifth inning.
The Tigers hit the ball well again in the second game. They scored two runs in each of the first three innings. The entire team hit the ball well as senior catcher Jenna Marston was the only Tiger to have more than two RBIs.
The Tigers will have another double-header next Friday, October 5, 2012 against Butler Community College and Jefferson College.
