Missouri sophomore libero Sarah Meister rests during the third set of Missouri’s 3-1 loss to Texas A&M on Friday, Sept. 28 at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo. Meister recorded a team high 22 digs.
The Missouri Tigers volleyball team fell to fellow Southeastern Conference newcomer Texas A&M 3-1 Friday at the Hearnes Center.
The Tigers couldn’t stop the combination of junior setter Allie Sawatzky and senior opposite hitter Alisia Kastmo. Sawatzky had a match high 54 assists while Kastmo had 20 kills for the Aggies.
Missouri was led by junior outside hitter Lisa Henning (20 kills, nine digs, four blocks) and junior setter Molly Kreklow (34 assists.)
The key to Texas A&M’s victory was their ability to contain the reigning SEC player of the week. Tigers sophomore middle blocker Whitney Little was held to only four kills during the four-set match, well below her 2.67 kills per set average.
Missouri’s next game will be Sunday, September 30 against Georgia at 1:30 p.m. at the Hearnes Center.
