Mike Larson pins Ben Clymer from Hofstra to the mat in the second period of the fourth round of their 184 pound NCAA consolation match on Friday, March 16, 2012 in St. Louis, Mo.
Friday morning started off strong, with four out of six Missouri wrestlers in the consolation bracket winning for a chance to wrestle again during the third session. No. 3 Alan Waters won by technical fall over Garrett Frey of Princeton, the majority of the points coming from near falls. Kyle Bradley won by decision over Bryce Busler from Bloomsberg with a final score of 8-5. Dorian Henderson won with a 6-3 decision over Greg Zannetti from Rutgers and Mike Larson pinned Ben Clymer of Hofstra in the second period.
Nathan McCormick lost to Shelton Mack (Pittsburgh) 6-2 during their match in the fourth round of the consolation bracket. Nicholas Hucke was also defeated in the fourth round, losing to Justin LaValle from Old Dominion 6-2.
No. 6 Brent Haynes lost to No. 3 Matthew Wilps of Pittsburgh in sudden victory of the quarterfinals round of the championship bracket.
In the fifth round of the consolation bracket, Waters defeated No. 11 Matthew Snyder 4-1. Bradley lost to Steve Santos from Columbia 5-4. Henderson’s match came down to the very last second of the third period, but Peter Huntley of Navy executed a takedown with minimal time left, ending the match 3-1. Larson defeated Grant Gambrall from Iowa 5-3 in overtime.
