No. 12 Missouri softball continued hot hitting in the DeMarini Invitational by beating Alcorn State 9-1 and Boise State 8-0 Saturday in two run-rule games. The win against Alcorn State was coach Ehren Earleywines’s 400^th win as a head coach.

After four home runs Friday, the Tigers showed they could also play small ball with four stolen bases. Junior Jenna Marston led the team at the plate going 4-for-7 with three RBIs on the day.

One of Marston’s hits was a triple in the fourth inning of the game against Boise State to score junior Princess Krebs, who had gotten on base on a fielder’s choice. Marston then scored on a suicide squeeze by freshman Ashtin Stephens.

The dominant Missouri offense was backed up by strong pitching performances by freshman Bailey Erwin and redshirt junior Chelsea Thomas. Erwin gave up one run on three hits to improve to 3-0 on the season, while Thomas gave up no runs and five hits to bring her record to 7-1.

The Tigers hope to close out the DeMarini Invitational Sunday with games at noon and 2 p.m. against Northern Illinois and Alcorn State, but may have to wait due to forecasted rain.
