Things were looking promising for the Tigers as they took a one-point deficit to the locker room at halftime, but a slew of fouls in the second half, combined with poor shooting, cost Mizzou the game as they fell at home against second-ranked Kansas. The Tigers combined for 25–many of which came at crucial moments in the second half–and only shot 29.3 percent from the floor and 13 percent from behind the arc.
Marcus Morris led Kansas with 21 points, and three other Jayhawks–Thomas Robinson, Tyrel Reed and Markieff Morris–also reached double-digits.
Laurence Bowers and Marcus Denmon played well for the Tigers, putting up 21 and 19 points respectively, but poor games by Kim English, Ricardo Ratliffe and Phil Pressey–who combined for 13 points–hurt Mizzou in the end.
