Football season in review: Mizzou 52, Miami 13

Leading up to Mizzou’s Dec. 28 Insight Bowl matchup against Iowa, KBIA Sports Extra will provide game-by-game looks back at the Tigers’ 10-2 2010 season.

Looking back

Mizzou’s highest point total of the year came against eventual MAC champion Miami in the Tigers’ final non-conference game Sept. 25. Seven Mizzou players—Kendial Lawrence, Henry Josey, Marcus Murphy, De’Vion Moore, Blaine Gabbert, Wes Kemp, and Carl Gettis—scored touchdowns as Mizzou registered a much-needed blowout following its miraculous win over San Diego State.

The win gave Mizzou its fifth consecutive undefeated regular season non-conference slate and helped move Mizzou into the top 25 heading into its date with Texas A&M two weeks later. It also represented another non-conference win that looked stronger as the season went on, as Miami—like Illinois and San Diego State—was far more competitive in 2010 than most had anticipated.
