VIDEO: Mizzou overcomes injuries to linebacking corps

Injuries, obviously, are never welcome on any sports team. But if you told Mizzou’s coaching staff prior to the 2010 season that one unit would see a slew of injuries, they probably would’ve said that the team’s linebacking corps could absorb the blow of multiple injuries better than another other offensive of defensive unit.

Those injuries have happened. Luke Lambert may be in line for a medical redshirt, and following his DWI suspension, Will Ebner has run into problems of his own.

Those injuries led Jarrell Harrison to move from safety to linebacker for last week’s win over Kansas State. Freshman Andrew Wilson has seen significant playing time as well alongside Zaviar Gooden and Andrew Gachkar, both of whom have remained healthy for 2010.

As Gary Pinkel said earlier in the year, Mizzou has five or six linebackers that could start on quite a few FBS teams. While injuries have put the team’s depth to the test, the success of the linebacking corps without Lambert and Ebner has proven Pinkel right.
