For the 13th time in program history, Mizzou men’s basketball is ranked in the AP Top 25 preseason poll.

Mizzou’s No. 15 ranking in the AP poll mirrors its ranking in the USA Today Coaches’ poll, which was released earlier this month. The No. 15 AP ranking is the 10th time Mizzou has been ranked in the top 15 prior to a season.

That No. 15 ranking is nowhere near the highest preseason ranking Mizzou has had, though. Mizzou’s 2003-2004 team was ranked No. 5 coming into the season—but that squad went just 16-14 and precipitated the downfall of coach Quin Snyder.

Eight of the 12 previous pre-season ranked Mizzou teams have made the NCAA Tournament. Of course, these pre-season rankings are to be taken with a grain of salt—only one of Mizzou’s four Elite 8 teams was ranked in the preseason AP poll.

Mizzou will play its Black & Gold game tonight at Mizzou Arena at 7:30 pm. According to team spokesman Dave Reiter, the rosters for the game break down as follows:

Black

  • Phil Pressey (G)
  • Ricky Kreklow (G)
  • Marcus Denmon (G)
  • Jarrett Sutton (G)
  • Kadeem Green (F)
  • Laurence Bowers (F)
  • Steve Moore (F)

Gold:

  • Michael Dixon (G)
  • Kim English (G)
  • Matt Pressey (G)
  • Ricardo Ratliffe (F)
  • Justin Safford (F)
  • John Underwood (F)
