Missouri entered its game with Texas A&M last Saturday with most national observers expecting the Tigers’ scoring defense to fall back to earth against a highly-regarded Texas A&M offense.

Mizzou had ranked third in country in scoring defense entering the game, ranking behind only TCU and Iowa. But instead regressing toward the middle of the pack, Missouri actually improved its ranking in scoring defense, moving to second in the nation with an average of 10.83 points per game.

Missouri harassed Texas A&M quarterback and Big 12 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Jerrod Johnson into seven sacks on Saturday in the Tigers’ 30-9 win. The nine points scored by Texas A&M were the lowest total for the Aggies in games started by Johnson.
