Mizzou volleyball knocks off Texas A&M in five-set thriller

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS — Behind 16 kills from Britney Brimmage and Paola Ampudia, Mizzou gutted out a five-set victory over Texas A&M to win it’s first match at Reed Arena since 2005.

Mizzou won two of the first three sets
by scores of 25-23, but impeccable serving from Texas A&M’s Kelsey Black led to a dominant 25-11 win in the fourth set.

But Mizzou didn’t fold after that crushing fourth set defeat. After trading blows points early in the fifth set, Mizzou stormed to a 12-9 lead and didn’t let A&M get back into the set, winning it 15-9.

The win pushed Mizzou to 4-5 in conference play and 12-7 overall. It was a win Mizzou almost had to have
coming off a 3-1 loss to Oklahoma, another mid-level Big 12 team, on Saturday.
